Week 2/ 3 / 4

Week 2
Will start with the students bringing in there assignments that I sent them home with the week before. This week will introduce the web 2.0 aspect of the internet lesson plan that I am trying to develop. I am going to use the wiki as my introduction to the lesson plan for this week.

Mon -Wed
Lecture: Wiki introduction, showing the students the uses of the wiki and how much it can help people with others being able to write on their wiki's and share their knowledge and opinions.

Use the internet to help get my point across on how the internet and all of its paths can make using a computer at this age is more than using it to play video games.

I used a couple of my sites that I searched for in my web portals project to use to teach this lesson plan. The best thing about this lesson is that I want to make it an enjoyable experience for the students, so the sites I used were very educational but uses games to help stimulate the minds of the students.

1. Surfing the Net with Kidshttp://www.surfnetkids.com/In this site it involves a woman, Barbara J. Feldman, and her passion forhelping parents and children to surf the web without the worries ofdistractions. In this site she involves the parent and the child to participateand interact with the site. She allows you to link to games and other sitesthat will stimulate the minds of your children.

2. Bizworldhttp://www.bizworld.org/programs.htmlThe BizWorld programs are standards-based, supplementary curricula thatreinforce academics through real world hands-on activities. Recommended forstudents in grades 3-8, the BizWorld programs can be used together orseparately. They allow students to interact with oneanother in real world situations like; In the BizWorld program, students workin teams to start and run their own small businesses in a simulated friendshipbracelet industry. Taking on different leadership roles, students learn thebasics of money management and entrepreneurship, as they apply for jobs, anddesign, manufacture, market and sell their products in the BizWorldmarketplace.

3. Mrs. Linder Onlinehttp://mrslinder.com/She explains why she built this web site because, As a teacher, I grew tired ofmy students not knowing where to search online. They would never know how toresearch topics and would often just end up playing games and entertainingthemselves on the Internet instead of focusing on learning. I was alsoexhausted from trying to remember WebQuest sites, good lesson plan sites andintegrating technology. A website made sense in order to truly integratetechnology into the classroom.

Thur-Fri

At the end of this week it will allow the students to search using the wiki and let them not only learn interesting things on the internet but they can still have fun doing it.

No assignment.

Week 3

As you try to teach this young of a group you have to remeber that the average third grader is not really worried of searching and using the computer to study. So in week 3 I am taking that into consideration.

In this week I am going to introduce these students to the social networks of the internet.

Myspace
Youtube
MSN
AOL

In my life span that has reached to the ripe age of 24 I have used everyone of these social utilites. Young kids like to talk and chit chat, so using these networks kids can go home and talk to one another and become better friends.

Assignment: Make an account for myspace and add at least 5 students in the class. Have parents help.

Week 4

In the conclusion of this four week lesson plan, I am going to sum up all of the key points of the internet. Focusing on the history, wiki, and social networking.

Test: The test will have three parts multiple choice, small essay and matching.

Web 2.0 is a recent thing that I have just really learned about and dont know all of the key things about it and hopefully as I go through the process of learning I will then be able to use that knowledge and apply it to this lesson plan and make it a solid and more well rounded lesson plan.
